Why the review?
Nowadays joint soreness, injury and ache are alarmingly common. They’re a leading cause of active individuals stopping or seriously slowing down in exercise, activity or training.
Many don’t realize at the time that exercise and physical activity play a huge role in mental well-being. We understand the obvious benefits to cardiovascular health and body composition however we only notice our mood fluctuating and focus slipping when we can no longer train or remain active.
This often leads to frustration, anger and other negative emotions, pulling us into exercise ruts, or worse, returning to play prematurely exacerbating things. The cycle perpetuates.
Unfortunately, the cause of these problems is completely unique. It can be something you’re not doing as much as something you are doing.
The Process
The Real Performance Review is all about determining where you’re at right now. Most have an idea of the destination (goal) but are completely unaware of their starting location. It’s akin to driving from Manchester to London without realizing you began in Bristol.
Your starting location begins to emerge by answering a short questionnaire with a follow up conversation (phone call). During this talk we’ll discuss training, sport, activity, work, stress, knowledge and anything else that appears relevant. Remember, this is individual, no rules.
Towards call end we’ll determine whether Screening is needed. This will likely include Movement Observation, Flexibility Tests etc.
This can be performed online or face-2-face, we’ll have that discussion together.
The Screening process will further uncover your starting location whilst also beginning to form the road map. This could include areas of training to focus on, areas to back away from, areas to avoid completely and areas to visit later.
I honestly don’t know what we’ll find.
I love this process. It makes me feel like a detective. Investigating, uncovering clues, determining motives all to define the small pieces that’ll remove problems and enhance performance.
We’ll round off the Real Performance Review with me providing my best possible advice based my years of experience and literally thousands of Review Sessions.
